NOTICES:

Sylvan Town Hall will be open Mon - Fri from 8:00am - 2:30pm during Early Voting. We will also be open additional hours on Saturday, October 31st from 9am - 3pm and again on Monday, November 2nd from 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Sylvan Township requires residents to obtain permits for:

  • Commercial/Business Permitting
  • Driveway Permits
  • Road Right-Away Permits
  • And requires a swing-away mailbox post

It's an Election Year!

ELECTION DAY IS NOVEMBER 3, 2026

Absentee Voting starts October 18th, 2026 for the General Election and Early Voting starts on October 16th, 2026.

Town Meetings

Township meetings are being held in-person.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Meetings are on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month for the Board of Supervisors (BOS) & 2nd Thursday of the month for the Planning Commission (PC)

Pillager & Area Lions Club - Requests

Pillager and Area Lion’s Club is requesting knowledge for some areas or residents in Sylvan Township that could use some help with small projects.  Ideas of projects that qualify include but are not limited to the following.

Painting of a deck or shed

Raking and bagging fall leaves

Building a handicap accessible ramp

Putting on storm windows

and others...

Gateway to Pillsbury State Forest


Sylvan Township was organized on April 2, 1912.  The Township was named after Sylvan Lake, known for its beautiful evergreen woods.  This community of roughly 3000 residents is located in the southern portion of Cass County, west of the City of Baxter and surrounds the City of Pillager.  The Township is defined by its many lakes, rivers, agricultural, and wooded areas.  Sylvan Township has the largest Native American burial mound groupings in the Mississippi Headwaters and one of the largest within the state of Minnesota.
